Banned Book Club October 13th

Stand Up for Your Right to Read

Fishers Island Library Presents:

Banned Book/AudioBook Club

What is it?
This is a club designed for students grades 7-12 (and friends and families!).
We will listen (or read) a different banned/challenged book each month and meet to discuss, eat snacks and socialize. There will be two adult supervisors to help facilitate, Clifford Anderson and Mere Doyen.

Why?
By exploring books that have been banned/challenged, participants will gain insights into societal norms, freedom of speech, and censorship across different periods of American history. Plus, these are GREAT books!

When?
We will meet monthly and design a schedule that works for participants. Our first meeting to pick books and get started will be on Friday, Oct. 13 at 3pm.

Where?
At the Library and on Zoom. This club is open to people on AND off island.
Please reach out to us at librarian@filibrary.org for the zoom link.
