Announcing New Board President Bonnie Benkard!

New Board President Bonnie Benkard shares a note to the Fishers Island Library community:

“It is with tremendous gratitude to Jon Britt for his seven years as president of the Fishers Island Library that I step into that role.  Jon leaves big shoes to fill, but if you know me, you know that Libraries are in my heart, personally, professionally, and especially at Fishers Island: The quiet corners and unexpected discoveries, the cozy golden light on a winter day, and the cool welcome on a summer afternoon.  That sounds like home to me, or the next best thing, the Library.  

My vision, however, isn’t the only one for our Library.  The Fishers Island Library is of and for our whole community.  We have already been planning programs for the new year, and I am very excited about a new effort to expand our offerings to the community by creating Library Island Partnerships with other Island organizations and individuals.  We hope these partnerships will engage and enrich life on Fishers Island year-round, and bring new events and activities to life.
