SPEAKER SERIES: Walking the Camino de Santiago
Islanders Ace Ahrens, Oliver Scholle, and Ted Rogers presented at the Library July 1, 2025 on their recent adventure along the Portuguese route of the Camino de Santiago.
Inspired while walking the fairways of the Hay Harbor golf course, these three Fishers Islanders, along with Mark Franklin, decided to try their hand at walking the centuries-old Camino de Santiago pilgrimage.
In October, over the course of 13 days and over 120 miles, they walked the Portuguese route, taking photos, meeting fellow pilgrims and learning. And before the walk, they explored Porto and the Douro Valley. From breathtaking scenery to moments of personal discovery, hear highlights from a journey that was as challenging as it was rewarding.
Ace Ahrens is a long-time year-round resident of the Island. Mark Franklin, Ted Rogers and Oliver Scholle, when not at their houses on the Island, live in Somerset, England, New York City and Boston, respectively.
