Children’s Program Manager – Fishers Island Library
Part-Time | Seasonal | Summer 2026
The Fishers Island Library is seeking a creative and enthusiastic Children’s Program Manager to lead our summer programming for children and their families.
Position Details
- Hours: 6–8 hours/week (planning begins in June; programs run July–August
- Compensation: $25/hour, paid bi-weekly
- Reports to: Library President and Librarian
What You’ll Do
Tots Time Story Program (Weekly) Lead engaging, developmentally appropriate story sessions for toddlers and caregivers that build early literacy skills. You’ll select stories and activities and procure supplies from library stock or within a modest budget.
Summer Reading Program Design and promote a children’s summer reading program using resources from the Collaborative Summer Library Program (CSLP). You’ll partner with Fishers Island School staff to align with curriculum goals, encourage student participation. You will be responsible for coordinating materials, activities, and rewards.
IPP Morning Program Visits (×2) Coordinate with the Morning Program Director to schedule two visits (one in July, one in August), plan activities, and support counselors in managing children during their time at the library.
Guest Performer Programs (1–2 Events) Schedule, promote, and host paid performers — such as magicians or storytellers — for standalone special events in collaboration with the Program Committee.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience working with children
- Familiarity with early childhood development and literacy
- Confidence leading group activities and reading aloud
- Creative instincts for promotion and community engagement
- Organized, reliable, and self-directed
- Available on-site for weekday programs in July and August
- Must be 18 or older
