VISITING AUTHOR JUNE 7: Angela Flournoy

Lighthouse Works & the Fishers Island Library
Present an Evening with Angela Flournoy
Saturday, June 7
The Fishers Island Library, 5pm

Join us for a special evening with acclaimed author Angela Flournoy, presented in partnership by the Fishers Island Library and Lighthouse Works. The program will feature a reading from Angela’s highly anticipated forthcoming novel, The Wilderness, followed by a conversation with author and Fishers Island resident Anna Noyes.

The Wilderness follows five women over two decades of friendship as they navigate the unpredictable terrain between young adulthood and midlife. Set between New York and Los Angeles, this era-defining novel explores the bonds of sisterhood, ambition, and resilience in the face of contemporary American life. National Book Award winner Justin Torres calls it “a miracle… gorgeously written with clear-sighted vision by one of the wisest, most talented authors working today.”

Angela Flournoy is the author of The Turner House, which was a finalist for the National Book Award, winner of the Center for Fiction First Novel Prize, a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Great New Writers Award, and a New York Times Notable Book of the Year. Her writing has appeared in many publications, including The Paris Review, The New York Times, and The New Yorker. She has been awarded fellowships from the National Endowment of the Arts, The American Academy of Berlin, and The New York Public Library.

This event is free and open to the public. A Q&A will follow the reading and conversation.
