AUGUST BOOK CLUB: The Beach at Summerly
Date: Wednesday, August 16
Time: 5:30pm
Location: FI Library
We’ve selected to read a new book by Beatriz Williams, the author of Summer Wives, among other titles.
It will be fun to read THE BEACH AT SUMMERLY about a small island called Winthrop Island based on Fishers Island! It takes place right after WWII and is reminiscent of our July read in that there’s some CIA action involved. Goodreads says, “a ravishing summer read, taking readers back to a mid-century New England rich with secrets and Cold War intrigue.” Sounds perfect for a hot August beach read!
Please invite friends who might also be interested. The more readers the better and so many people are unable to join on any given night that I don’t think we can have too many people. There are lots of book lovers on the island and it’s really nice to bring the group together. Please feel free to forward this to anyone else you can think of. All are welcome.
We generally select the book for the following month at the preceding meeting. Feel free to BYOBeverage and a snack to share if you like.
